My friends know one thing about me and that one thing is that I. LOVE. MEAT. The beauty of the midwest is that so much food comes from right around the corner and I could not be happier about it. I screeched when my boyfriend's mother sent me home with two bags filled with local ground beef that came straight from a steer that she shared with a neighbor. I revel in all things local and my dinner last night was just that: Beef from Wisconsin, lettuce grown from a hydroponic garden that belongs to my boyfriend, enchilada sauce made by Chicago's own Rick Bayless and tortillas from El Milagro, a Chicago-based tortilla company.
